Waiting
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
Advent is a season of waiting. Not just waiting for packages and cards, gifts and phone calls, waiting for kids or a spouse to get ready. Waiting for Christmas. Although we are preparing our hearts in remembrance of what God has done, it is important to remember that the first coming shows God promises are kept. The first coming points to second coming. We remain in a season of waiting and anticipation. Just as we keep busy preparing to celebrate the first coming of Christ, we are to be busy preparing our hearts for the second coming as well.
Start by taking a minute and pausing. It is a busy season. Just stop for a moment and reflect on all the Lord has done, and is doing in your life.
Thank God for his faithfulness and His blessings.
Bring to Him the concerns on your heart.
Ask for His will to be done.
And then, Go tell it…not just on the mountain, but over the hills and everywhere.
Jesus Christ is King
