What We Believe
We are united in our faith as expressed through the Apostles Creed. There is one Triune God.
The Father by whom all things were created and who preserves all life. (Colossians 1:17, 1 Corinthians 8:6)
The Son who in his birth (incarnation) and death and resurrection has redeemed sinners. (John 3:16-17, Acts 4:12)
The Holy Spirit who gives to us the saving gift of faith. (1 Corinthians 12:3)
What is God’s goal?
God desires all people to be saved through a relationship with Jesus Christ. That is why He sent his beloved Son to redeem us – a lost and sinful people. It is why the Son sent the Holy Spirit who brings us the gift of faith in Holy Baptism, and works to maintain it through contact with the Word of God and Holy Communion. (Romans 3:23, 1 Timothy 2:3-4, 1 John 4:16)
What then is the Church’s role?
Through the church, God calls and equips disciples to serve Him by serving His creation – our neighbors. We do so by meeting their physical and spiritual needs. (Galatians 6:9-10, Hebrews 10:25)
What is your role?
God has given each of us gifts, talents, and blessings to work in the community in His name. He desires us to create relationships that point to Him. Our purpose is to lead others into God’s grace. (Matthew 25:34-40, 1 Peter 4:10, Romans 12)
We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired and true Word. It is the only source for knowledge about God and His love for us as shown in Jesus Christ (John 20:31, 1 John 5:13). The Bible speaks to us in both Law and Gospel. The Law serves as a guide; to tell us what we should do. It serves as a mirror; to show us how we really are. It also functions as a ruler; showing us that we, as sinful beings, do not and cannot keep His law perfectly. But we also have the message of the Gospel. Most well-known through John 3:16, we are reminded that God loves His creation and sent His Son, Jesus, to redeem us.
Through the special gift of baptism, God gives to us His grace. Baptism is done in response to faith, either requested by an individual or a child brought forward by family request. This is done in accordance to Acts 2:37-39. Baptism is the beginning of your Christian journey and we look forward to walking this path with you. We believe God has given us the gift of Sacraments for the forgiveness of our sins (Matthew 26:26-28). In the tradition of the LCMS, we practice Close Communion which means we celebrate the sacrament with those whose faith is in agreement with our own. This is the very body and blood of Jesus Christ, given and shed for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a visitor, please introduce yourself to the pastor to receive communion.
As you prepare for communion we ask you to reflect on these questions:
- Do I believe I am a sinner and I repent for all my sins; sins of thoughts, word and deeds?
- Do I believe that Jesus died upon the cross to pay for those sins, and by that sacrifice alone I am made right with God?
- Do I believe I am about to encounter Jesus both physically and spiritually as I receive His body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine?
- Do I believe that in this sacred meal, I receive the forgiveness of sins and salvation?
